Increased consumption of fruits and vegetables increases happiness, study finds.
The people who changed from almost no fruit and vegetable consumption to 7 to 8 portions a day reported dramatic increases in life satisfaction. A change of this magnitude is equivalent to a person going from (unwanted) unemployment to employment.
The study was a well designed random sample of 12, 385 randomly sample adjusted for changes in income, and other personal circumstances.
If this result were coincidental with people feeling that they had more control over their lives, rather than just eating more fruits and vegetables, it would still be a very important finding.
It has important implications for self care and for client care.
