It turns out that meeting expectations is more important then how much money you make in terms of happiness and contentment.
In a large scale study happiness was based on whether outcomes meet expectations, surpass expectations or are below expectations and NOT on how much money was accumulated during the activity.
The University College London issued the following news release:
“The happiness of over 18,000 people worldwide has been predicted by a mathematical equation developed by researchers at UCL, with results showing that moment-to-moment happiness reflects not just how well things are going, but whether things are going better than expected.”
