People report being more unhappy than ever, according to a study of 154,000 people by Gallup.
Gallup studied more than 154,000 people in more than 145 countries. Their “Negative Experience Index” reports people’s daily levels of worry, stress, physical pain, sadness and anger. The Negative Experience Index has hit the highest level in a decade.
And a survey from the American Psychological Association (2017) reports that 49% of Americans felt very stressed the day before the survey.
What is making people so unhappy?
-63 percent of Americans said they stress about the future of our nation,
-62 percent about money,
-61 percent about work and
-57 percent about the current political climate.
What can we do to help ourselves?
Breathe, take breaks at work, go for a short walk on the sunny side of the street at lunchtime (if possible), make sure you get enough sleep and eat sensibly. One can also consult with a psychologist to make sure you are doing a good job of self care. I am happy to help.
