I’m quoted in an article “Less is More” in Prevention Magazine’s December 2016 issue.
The article is about a woman who hit a financial setback after her divorce and recovered from it.
I offer 3 pieces of advice:
1-Be honest with yourself. If you weren’t responsible for the setback–let’s say you had an unforseen illness or job loss–you need to remind yourself that it’s not your fault.
2-If you did cause the problem–by, for instance, overspending or buying a home you couldn’t afford–forgive yourself. “Say ‘OK, Ive learned something from this. I’ll never do it again.'”
3-You can feel better once you see progress” in your new and improved financial plan.
